THE COLOUR'S ATTACK CONTEST
The Colours’Attack contest engages people in friendly competition worldwide and supports UNESCO’s Promoting Art Through Education programme. The competition is presented in collaboration with D&AD.
Japanese graphic artist Shin Tanaka has created a papertoy template to accompany the launch of eight Pop’Set premium recycled papers from Arjowiggins CreativePapers. The company’s running a competition called Colours’ Attack for creatives to design toys based on the template, with the best entries being shown at the D&AD’s New Blood exhibition in London in the summer.
Below are some designs created by Tanaka to show how versatile the creature template is
“C-Myk is a very special creature,” says Tanaka. “Born from sunlight, it came on earth to make our lives more pop and colourful.”
The template for C-Myk, which is apparently pronounced ‘See-mike’, can be downloaded from popsetpaper.com. Designers are invited to upload their creations to the site, and visitors will vote on the best. A jury of design leaders in Paris will then select the very best ones to go on display in the Arjowiggins Creative Papers VIP gallery at D&AD’s New Blood exhibition in June. Here, the C-Myk will be sold in support of the UNESCO ‘Award of Excellence for Handicrafts’, which promotes quality crafts that have been manufactured in a socially responsible manner and with respect for the environment.
Arjowiggins says that Pop’Set’s new intense colours are aimed at advertising, promotional print, direct mail and luxury packaging. The Pop’Set range has eight new colours: Infra Violet, Lime Tonic, Cosmo Pink, Cactus Green, Urban Grey, Riviera Blue, Hot Brown and Ultra Red. The new
range includes three new formats for envelopes and an additional 400g weight. The entire range — now with 31 colours — is made from 30 per cent premium recycled paper and FSC certified pulp, and is available in nine weights from 80g to 400g.
