MAKKO LAUNCHING

Comics as well as the fashion world has a market share large enough and loyal. Various local and foreign comics was (and still) into their own entertainment for a variety of individual that we know. Now a local publishing comes with Makko name. The work of Indonesian youth are trying to present a portal-style comic book pop culture is filled with a myriad of creative writers and talented comic artists in Indonesia.




For readers who are interested and enthusiastic, Makko will provide several options based on systems like monthly comics, dwimingguan, as well as a weekly course, already have a schedule. They also explained that already there are 10 titles of Indonesian comic artists who are ready to rise.

All Night Long Video and New Media Arts

The first video will be screened on 18:00.

“SELAMETAN” is a Javanese-Indonesian concept of a community gathering, where neighbors and friends are invited to a celebration of an important occasion, to pray and hope for a better future and, most of all, to gather in a convivial sphere. In Yogyakarta, the city where LAF resides, an all night-long wayang performance (shadow puppet play) usually becomes the central part of “selametan”. SELAMETAN Digital is our own version of such long and deep-rooted tradition.




As much as this tradition is still practiced, we are also witnessing that in many ways our life activities and artistic expression drawn by and into digital technology. We are embracing all new forms of art and cultural expressions which in the process of ‘becoming’. We are witnessing, with enthusiasm, how new technologies becoming part of our daily lives, and shaping our contemporary culture. SELAMETAN Digital is an all-night long video and new-media works viewing session to inaugurate Langgeng Art Foundation.

The inauguration speech by the founder of Langgeng Art Foundation Mr. Deddy Irianto and our first director Mr. Enin Supriyanto will start at 19:00 and ends at 19:30.

CONVERSE JAPAN TO CELEBRATING THE 25th ANNIVERSARY OF SUPER MARIO BROS


Converse Japan has apparently decided to be that one relative who sends you a birthday card months after the date by releasing a set of Chuck Taylor All-Stars celebrating the 25th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. being released on the NES. Which, if you’re keeping score, was on September 13, 1985.

These Converse x Super Mario Bros. sneakers go on sale in Japan in April. The sneaks come in two versions on black or white canvas, and feature an all-over pixelated Super Mario sprite pattern with additional details on the tongue, and the ‘All-Star’ on the side tag turned into an invincibility star.

Kaskus Plastic and Toy Camera Community (Klastic) regional Yogyakarta akan menggelar pameran foto dan workshop toy camera. Klastic adalah wadah komunikasi untuk pecinta dan pengguna kamera plastik, toy camera, low fidelity (lo-fi) camera. Tema “Animal Instinct” adalah metafor tentang kebinatangan, dalam hal ini sisi yang positif, yaitu insting hewan yang selalu beradaptasi terhadap lingkungan agar bertahan hidup. Klastic sebagai komunitas yang menggunakan kamera lo-fi, menggunakan film, harus mampu beradaptasi dan bertahan hidup di era digital. Keterbatasan fitur dalam kamera lo-fi justru menjadi tantangan untuk menghasilkan karya foto yang unik dan bernilai seni.
Selain pameran foto, ada pula diskusi dan workshop fotografi, gathering komunitas dan bazaar. Event ini digelar secara gratis, untuk umum.

Tokyo Wonder Site Aoyama: Creator-in-Residence Open Call of the International Creator Residency Program 2011!


We are now calling for international creators who could perform new creative activities based on the subjects which are core of our projects such as "Art and Environment", "Cultural diversity and the activities of New Art Centres", or "Possibilities of collaboration" during their residency at TWS Aoyama:Creator-in-Residence for three months.


Residency Period: From the beginning of January to the end of March, 2012
Details: Creators who are planning to undergo cultural study or research based at TWS Aoyama:Creator-in-Residence during the above period.
